New Study Shows CBD is Successful at Reducing Stress in Dogs
CBD helps reduce stress in canines new study shows. The Waltham Petcare Science Institute has demonstrated that CBD is a viable means of reducing stress in canines. The study found that a single dose of cannabidiol (CBD) had a positive impact on stress levels in dogs while they are separated from their owners or during travel by car.
CBD Study of Dogs during Separation and Car Travel
The research investigated the effect of CBD on the stress levels of 20 dogs during two routine events that are known to cause anxiety – car rides and periods of separation. The study was designed to achieve two objectives through a randomized, blinded, and placebo-controlled approach:
First, was to examine the effects of separation and car travel on canine stress. Second, was to determine whether a single dose of broad-spectrum CBD, without THC, could positively affect stress indicators in dogs during these two circumstances.
Dog were given a placebo or CBD capsule. Two hours after, the dogs were put into a car or separated to see the effects of the CBD or placebo. The study revealed that dogs treated with CBD exhibited noteworthy improvements, including reduced sadness, lower cortisol levels, decreased whining, and an overall more relaxed emotional state compared to dogs that received a placebo.
These studies prove the need for options when providing different healthcare to pets. Its important to remember the FDA has not approved CBD for use in dogs or any other pets. Always speak with your veterinarian about the options available for your pet.
